For the 14th year, Monaco is hosting the Monte Carlo Film Festival, an important event of the cinematographic industry between February 28th and March 5th.

The center of the festival this year will be the Fairmont Hotel, while the screenings of the competition films will be held at the Théâtre des Variétés and Grimaldi Forum will be the venue of the “Awards Gala”.

Director John Landis will serve as Honorary President of the event and will be rewarded with the prestigious prize of the Legend of Comedy Award as a sign of gratitude for having made films that have become classics and managed to enter with full rights into the Hall of Fame.

The British screenwriter, Michael Radford will occupy another respectable position during the event taking the role of Chief Jury. One of the most famous films he directed is “The Postman”, which enabled him to be nominated for an Oscar for the Best Scriptwriter and Director in 1994.

The Monte Carlo Film Festival will also give a special distinction for lifetime achievement to the Oscar-winning filmmaker Costa-Gavras, for putting his art at the service of civic engagement and for having created a few but sharp comedies that should gain more attention. Last but not least, Monica Bellucci, Riccardo Scamarcio and Enrico Montesano have already been announced on the winners’ list of this year’s edition.
