The 2019 Formula 1 cars took to the track in all their glory during pre-season testing at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, February 18 to March 1.

There were thrilling highs for some teams and heartbreaking lows for others but one thing’s for sure, it’s going to be an interesting and exhilarating year of F1.

With multiple driver changes, new faces and the F1 cars sporting wicked new looks, the countdown to the Australian Grand Prix is more anticipated than ever.

The blazing Australian sun will hopefully shine down over Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit as the 2019 F1 season kicks off and will reveal where the teams really stand in the pecking order after pre-season testing.

  • The Australian Grand Prix was originally fought out on Adelaide Street circuit before moving to Melbourne’s Albert Park in 1996.
  • The 2018 podium looked like this: Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari (1), Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes (2), Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari (3).
  • Albert Park Street Circuit takes approximately 290,000 man hours to assemble
  • Eddie Irvine, brother of Amber Lounge CEO and Founder, still stands as the only driver to claim his first F1 victory at Albert Park in 1999, racing for Ferrari.
  • With 4 wins, Michael Schumacher is the most successful driver at this circuit although this could be equaled by Sebastian Vettel this year who currently has 3 wins.
  • Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo are the highest placing Australian drivers at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
